Well the sun is back. At least for a couple of days and now it is time to hit the river. As long as the water is high enough one of the rapids folds back and makes a small wave and you can surf on the river. We have a cable going across the river with a rope tied to it. You get on the surf board by the edge of the river and then let your self back until the surf board is on the wave. If the river is high enough you don’t even need to hold on to the rope. I would compare the surfing experience to surfing behind the boat. The wave is maybe a bit bigger the wake could ever get. I will see if I can’t film it so you get an idea of what it is like.

Rain rain on my face

It hasn’t stopped

Raining for days

My world is a flood

Slowly I become

One with the mud

It seems as though the sun shine has forgotten about Austria. Things have been getting a bit dreary, but not to bad. Needless to say we will be watch’n all three Lord of the Ring movies tomorrow.

Oh and the other reason that I had the Jars of Clay song at the beginning is because they are coming to our church.

Well it looks like Kim and I will be spending a week in Paris. Today we received our flights. We purchased them with our Air Canada air miles. Seeing as we never know for sure what is going to happen with Air Canada I think it is a pretty good deal. So at the end of Spring School we will be practicing our French. Yikes!

As well today was Vic’s last day. He left this morning and is heading back to Canada. It’s to bad he had to leave, because we sure had some great times and one amazing winter!

Well it hasn’t been terribly sunny here during the last few weeks, but the company has been great and so has the outdoors. Even though it has been raining a bit we have still managed to go on some hikes, play some soccer, a little climbing, and soon we will be watching the world cup mountain bike downhill. Like the ski race here in the winter it will also be at night. It will be good to get back and see many of you again, but at the same time it sure is a good time here. There is always something to do. Have a good one and I will try and be a little more regular with some pictures worth looking at.

Went climbing today at the U, good times had by all. I was struck that when I got there I instantly got this sorta happy, exciting feeling inside. I guess it can be a combination of good memories of past times there and excitement adout getting back into something that I quite enjoy doing. The climbing wall has provided many hours of solving problems and just hanging out with some cool people. The people that are there are I find are some of the most friendly people I have ever met. It is just an enjoyable, relaxing environment to be in. Plus the climbing is pretty good as well. I think I enjoy climbing because it is a combination of physical and metal exercise, plus it is a sport where you compete against yourself and push yourself to do some pretty cool moves. Nothing quite like when you redpoint the route or problem you have been working on for a while. Well I hope to continue the trend and get back into a regular climbing schedule, and am looking forward to getting out doors for a couple of trips.

Today I had my first sermon. It was on Connecting with God. It went ok, but I am a little uncertain about what I think. I was kind of rushed and I didn’t get into as much detail as I wanted, but it isn’t to bad. If you want to have a look at the power point and listen to what I said you can download (20 MB) it. We will see how long I actually leave it up.

Let me know what you think and if you have any trouble downloading it.

Well last night was quite entertaining. We had Austrian Dancing Night. I have put some pictures into a new Austrian Dancing Gallery. Here is a preview pic.

As well as I have made a little hair style change…

Actually I have such a wimpy head that I couldn’t even sleep on it so I took it out before I went to bed, but for a few minutes I was cool thanks to Erin.

Here are a couple of pics from Kim’s parents visit. Besides I am sure you were getting tired of looking at Dan’s ugly ear everytime you came to the web site.

So now that spring is here, and hopefully it isn’t going to snow again, Mountain Bike riding is in full effect these days. I am pretty excited as I haven’t really done a whole lot over the winter and getting out and doing something you love is just so invigorating. But alas, rides don’t always go the way you want them to. Take for instance last ride, me and a tree decided to get at it. I went head first with everything I had, and the tree still won. Well at least I have something to show for it; this nice picture and a cracked helmet. The tree it had nothing.

I was going down this very steep hill when my back tire slid out, and I went down and right head first into a tree. Fortunately the helmet did its job and absorbed a lot of the impact and I just had to get a couple of stitches to my ear and a bit of a stiff neck. This is a warning to all those who think they are too tough to wear a helmet…. WEAR A FREAKIN’ HELMET!! Anywho, I am fine, just a little trouble sleeping on one side of my head. Should be back on the trails in no time.

Well Kim’s parents have come and gone. It was good to see them and we had some good times chatting. I should have some pictures for you tomorrow.

Last night turned out to be a bit of an interesting one though. I was back in our room getting ready for bed after just finishing lock up and making sure people where in there beds when I heard this whistle. My first thought was that some of the students must be out side or whistling out of their window, but thought it is probably ok I will just wait. Then I heard more and more whistling. So I headed out on our balcony to see what the deal was and all I saw was Will walking by and then back to his hut. I asked him what was up and he said he didn’t know and couldn’t see and was going to get some light. I through on my pants and shirt to go see who was causing the problem. When I got down stairs will called me to hurry over and in his arms was a brand new baby deer. His dog Lissi had stolen it from the mother dear, who had just given birth to it behind the lecture hall, and carried it across the property and was kind of burying it in some dirt. Lissi didn’t hurt the deer at all and it was kind of hard to figure out what she was up to. So we were going to try and drop the deer off where Will thought it was born, but there was no deer around anywhere and it was freezing cold outside. So, in the end we just kept it in our room for the night so that it wouldn’t freeze and so that nothing would attack it while it was unprotected. At first it was cool having this tiny little deer in our room and then about 4:00 in the morning when it still wasn’t sleeping the coolness hard warn off. By time the morning came around I hadn’t slept all that much and neither had the deer. It did some how learn to walk during the night and was cruising around our room looking for a place to hide. We went to the police station to tell them that we had a wild life problem, but they told us just to take it to the vet or what ever… seeing as we didn’t know what we did we called the local deer farmer and later that morning they came and got the deer, but not before we got a couple of pictures.
