Sick

Author: Jeremy Teeuwsen

Well it has been a bit of a rough weekend as Kim and I have been pretty sick from fever to sore throat to just a plain old cold, but hopefully we are coming out of it and thankfully it has all happened before we leave for Tunisia.

Tunisia here we come. We picked up the tickets today and we will be leaving next week Friday. The only down side is our return flight. 5:10 in the morning. Sometimes life is ruff.

Skiing or Climbing

Author: Jeremy Teeuwsen

Today was a day of contrasts. Some of us went skiing and some went climbing. The climbing wall we were on is at the base of the ski hill. It was so warm that we were just wearing shorts and no shirts and right beside us people were skiing down in their full ski suits some of them wearing hats and scarves. I think we will go again tomorrow. I will be sure to put up some pictures.

April Fools

April Fools. Well nothing to exciting happened today. No practical jokes. Quite disappointing over here in Europe, but for your pure reading enjoyment I have included a link to the Top 100 April Fools Jokes. Some aren’t to bad.

Yard Sale

Author: Jeremy Teeuwsen

Just the other day we were sharing stories about ridiculous things that have happened while teaching skiing. The most amusing was a particular individual who rented ski boots, but failed to mention to the rental place that he couldn’t get them closed because his legs were to big. By some miracle he made it down the hill for the “ski off” where based on your skills you are assigned to ski instructors. A few minutes later he is off following his ski instructor. While doing one of the exercises he fell and lost his poles his skis and yup his boots. He did this not once, not twice, but three times he had a complete yard sale. Ahhhh… funny stuff.

Be sure to check out Get Fuzzy (March 30) today. Some good quality grade 8 humour.

Steve’s emails continue…

Author: Jeremy Teeuwsen

Well it’s that time again. Another email from Kim’s brother Steve:

… Why is it you always start off your e-mails by asking if there’s any girls I should know about? Don’t you know me? c’mon. Besides i’m counting on you to bring me home my British girl for my birthday. Or you can send her in the mail, i don’t care. Anywho, nothing is going on and I almost got up to talk to you this week, but I was kind of sick and you couldn’t really talk anyways. But don’t worry, I’ll make sure I get up this week. I’m looking forward to summer, though, I might just end up working for Seed Centre, as one of the drivers. It should be a good job for the summer because I like to drive and listen to music, it will be relatively mindless, and I should have a lot of time to go out to the lake too. We have a lot of plans for the lake this year. There is an 85 GMC Sierra classic SUV that we found by Steve’s place that looks like Colin’s old Bronco, but the top comes off, and we were thinking that if we can get it for cheap, we might fix it up and use it as a boat truck. It would be cool. Plus, burger bar girl is now officially old enough to mack on (i know that sounds wrong, but this is me). Know what else? Physics girl has a boyfriend I found out, so that makes me feel a little better about being shut down. Also, I was watching Warren Miller’s Extreme world yesterday, and that place you skiied that took like 2 hours to go down was on the show. So now i’ve been there too (in spirit) I’m sort of jealous right now if your skiing because I havn’t gone in a while, even though you’re probably getting a little sick of it.

I’ll talk to you next Sunday.

Steve love’s his big sister

It doesn’t get any better then that.

Email is working

Author: Jeremy Teeuwsen

Well the sun is out and we are rounding into the end of the ski season. Only a couple of weeks left.

My email is up and running again although there is still an issue and I don’t know for how long it will be working. Hopefully everything will be sorted out soon.

Otherwise… summer is on the way!!!

Snowboarding Tricks

Author: Jeremy Teeuwsen

Well as some of you know I can be a bit competitive at times. Lately it has been with snowboarding. I usually get a chance to go once every week or two and everytime I am out I am always telling Vic that we need to work on our 360s. Well I can do a few small grabs and 180s are pretty easy so I figured I was ready for the big time. Vic goes first. Basically lands his 360 giving me even more confidence in my meager abilities. Needless to say I get some speed launch of the jump and start to spin … in both directions. To the side and into a back flip. My 360 attempt has turned into a Rodeo attempt. Not a good idea and as it turns out my helmet works good and my body is much more flexible then I thought. In other words a head plant followed by folding in half over top of my head. Blah…. Thankfully I wasn’t hurt all that seriously and managed to slithered my way down the hill and into a nice hot shower to deal with my back pain.

As a side note I seem to be having some trouble with the website and my teeuwsen.com email. I am talking with the hosting company, but haven’t heard back yet. Please send emails to my hotmail account. If you don’t know it let me know and I will send you a quick email.

British Girls

Author: Jeremy Teeuwsen

I was thinking about Steve (Kim’s Brother) this week. Seeing as it is international week we have all kinds of British Girls (maybe 10 or so) and they came with one American guy who has been volunteering at their church. It would be a dream come true for Steve to be that American. 🙂 I guess in life you make choices. Steve could be skiing with British Girls in the Alps or … well … getting his doctorate in Chemistry.

International Week

Author: Jeremy Teeuwsen

Well it has been a couple of Days. We have been getting rain at the school and snow at the top. Lots of snow. It just keeps falling. I am a little worried that we might have a wet summer. We will see.

This week we have an international weeks so everything is English. Kind of a nice change, but at the same time I really need to work on my German. The title for this week is Israel week. The main speakers run a missions focused hostel in Israel and have some pretty interesting stories especially when you read about all the chaos in the news. It always brings a different perspective when you are talking to people that are experiencing it first hand.
